Authorities ID 24-Year-Old Man Stabbed, Killed in North Plainfield

Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor, and North Plainfield Chief of Police William Parenti announced that a death investigation is underway into the fatal stabbing of a 24-year old North Plainfield man.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that on Aug. 19th, at approximately 2:18 a.m., a 9-1-1 call was received regarding a fight in the area of Grove Street in North Plainfield.

Authorities say upon officers arrival, North Plainfield Police Officers found the victim - later identified as Mr. Nelson Noe Garcia-Lopez, 24, of North Plainfield - suffering from stab wounds. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes and Crime Scene Units, the North Plainfield Police Department, and medical investigators from the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office responded to conduct the investigation.

According to officials, A post-mortem examination will be performed on the decedent to determine the cause and manner of death.
