Authorities Find Electronic Monitoring Bracelet in Newark

Newark Police seek the public's assustance regarding an electronic monitoring bracelet found yesterday.

Police said at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers located an electronic monitoring bracelet at Avon Avenue and South 17th Street. Using GPS technology, electronic monitoring bracelets are affixed to the ankle of certain released defendants in lieu of bail to ensure their whereabouts pending an upcoming court appearance.

Defendants are prohibited from removing or tampering with the devices authorities said.

While police are actively investigating this incident, they seek the public’s assistance with any information regarding the found electronic monitoring bracelet.

This investigation is active and ongoing.
