Authorities in Somerset County announced that an ongoing investigation into a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred on Sunday, October 19.

Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald stated that on Sunday, October 19, at approximately 7:43 a.m., Franklin Township Police responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles on Easton Avenue near Cedar Grove Lane, Somerset.
Franklin Township Police Officers, along with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel, responded to the scene to treat the victims, Somerset County officials said.
According to Somerset County officials, a female operator of a 2019 white Honda Civic, identified as Michele Rojek, 51, from Somerset, was transported from the scene to an area trauma center, where she was subsequently pronounced deceased.
A male operator, identified as a 37-year-old Piscataway resident, operating a 2023 gray Toyota Tundra, did not require medical attention as a result of this motor vehicle crash, SCPO officials say.
Prosecutor McDonald stated that officers from the Franklin Township Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau, along with Investigators from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team (C.A.R.T.), responded to conduct the investigation.
The results of the preliminary investigation have yielded that Ms. Rojek, while operating her 2019 white Honda Civic, was traveling southbound on the northbound side of Easton Avenue when her vehicle collided with a 2023 gray Toyota Tundra, SCPO authorities said.
Witness reports confirmed the preliminary findings, Somerset County officials said. The matter remains under investigation.
