Authorities Arrest Men Accused of Kidnapping, Robbing a Taxi Driver in Ridgewood

Two men accused of robbing and kidnapping a taxi driver in Ridgewood last year, have been arrested and charged, according to authorities.

On Dec. 26, Wilber Jonathan Barahona, of Ridgewood, and Jostin Vidal Soriano Reyes, of Waldwick, got into a taxi in Paterson around 3 a.m. Once inside the cab, the pair ordered the driver to pull over on North Monroe Street in Ridgewood, where they assaulted and robbed the driver.

The men then kidnapped and later dumped the driver on the side of the New York State Thruway as they continued into New York, according to reports.

According to authorities, no other details surrounding the incident or the arrests were immediately available because of the ongoing investigation.

Barahona and Vidal Soriano Reyes have been charged with carjacking, kidnapping, armed robbery, aggravated assault and weapons offenses.
