Authorities Apprehend Two Homicide Suspects in Newark

Acting Prosecutor Carolyn Murray and Newark Police Director Eugene Venable are announcing the arrest of two homicide suspects who were wanted for separate homicides in Newark.

Today, members of the Newark Police , FBI /Prosecutor’s Office Fugitive units arrested the following suspects:

Tony McCoy, of Newark was arrested on South Orange Avenue in Newark for the stabbing homicide of Rhasan Jackson, which occurred on July 5,2014 at 78 North Munn Avenue in the city of Newark. Mr.

McCoy was a fugitive from justice wanted on a five hundred thousand dollar bail.

Neville Pitts, of Newark was arrested on South 8th. Street for the shooting homicide of Walter Page, 39, that occurred on September 7,2015 at 9 Rowley Street in Newark. Mr. Pitts been a fugitive from justice also and was wanted on a million dollars bail.

The both subjects were arrested during the daytime hours today.

They were taken to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force where they were booked and are being held at the Essex County Correctional Center.

Acting Prosecutor Carolyn Murray praised the collaboration and efforts of the Newark Police and FBI fugitive units for these apprehensions today.
