Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Audubon Police Chief Thomas Tassi publicized that an Audubon man has been sentenced to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison for the murder of his roommate in January of 2015.
William A. Clark III, 52, was charged in February of 2015 with one count of Murder and one count of Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose in the shooting death of his roommate, 38-year-old Steven Johnston of Audubon.
Clark shot Steven Johnston in their apartment in the 400 block of S. White Horse Pike in Audubon on January 31, 2015 following an argument between the roommates.
After the shooting, Clark called 911 from the apartment and told the dispatcher that he shot Steven Johnston in the head, then waited at the apartment for police to arrest him.
The murder weapon was never found.
Clark pled guilty to an amended charge of first-degree Aggravated Manslaughter as part of a negotiated plea agreement reached by Assistant Prosecutor Lauren Pratter on Oct. 21st.
Judge Gwendolyn Blue sentenced Clark in accordance with the negotiated plea agreement on December 2, 2016.
Clark will be required to serve a minimum of 17 years before being eligible for parole.
