Audition Dates for Youth Summer Theater Workshop for Union County Students Announced

Union County New Jersey

The 2015 youth theater program is pleased to announce auditions for their upcoming Theater Project’s 2015 Youth Summer Theater Workshop, that will culminate with a performance at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway

Auditions for The Theater Project’s 2015 Youth Summer Theater Workshop will take place Sunday, June 7th from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Jardine Academy at 61 Myrtle Ave in Cranford.

The workshop is set to run June 23rd to August 23rd, and will culminate with a performance of Legally Blonde Jr. at the Union County Performing Arts Center’s Hamilton Stage in Rahway.

During the eight week program students learn about acting and vocal techniques, character development, costume and stage makeup all while building confidence, making friends and having a wonderful time.

Participants can also gain knowledge in the technical aspects of theater – stage management, set design, lighting, etc. should they choose not to have a performing role.

Legally Blonde Jr. is based on the film of the same name. This version is adapted for a younger audience. The award winning musical follows Elle Wood's transformation as she learns about snobbery and stereotypes, and eventually finds her true self.

Admission to the program is by audition only, and class enrollment is limited. There is a $350 registration fee for those accepted with discounts available for families with multiple children in the program.

For an audition packet please contact Mary Iannelli at (973) 716-6654 or via email at mary@TheTheaterProject.org. For additional information on the program or Legally Blonde Jr. visit http://www.thetheaterproject.org/theater-project-jr-auditions.html.

Founded in 1994, under the leadership of Mark Spina, the Theater Project’s purpose is to expose its audiences to new or lesser-known plays on thought provoking themes that speak to the concerns of the community, showcase local artists, and make choices that are artistically challenging to actors and audiences alike.
