Gunfire rang out in the area of Central Ave. and Fairmont Ave. shortly before 9 p.m. sending several police units to the scene where a suspected armed robber was reportedly injured by gunfire.
The suspect was attempting to rob a convenience store at that location when an employee inside the store begin to fire shots according to several sources who were on the scene during the incident.
The store's front door remained locked this evening with several people inside who refused to speak about the situation.
Employees working in a Chinese store several blocks away said they heard gunfire but did not know where it came from until police surrounded the area.
"We just locked our door and kept our customers safely inside" one of the employees said.
The victim was taken to University Hospital in an unknown condition.
An investigation is underway.
