Members of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office recently laced up their running shoes to take part in the 42nd Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run, an event that supports Special Olympics New Jersey and helps raise awareness for the statewide Summer Games.According to information released by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, staff from the Prosecutor’s detective division joined the effort along “Leg 8” of the run, which starts at Caesars Casino in Atlantic City and concludes at the Camden waterfront.
The participating detectives ran more than four miles, receiving the ceremonial torch from Atlantic City Police at the Absecon ShopRite and handing it off to Galloway Township Police at the Galloway Diner.

To support their fellow runners, two detectives followed alongside in a support van, stocked with water and bananas generously donated by the ShopRite of Absecon.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run helps sustain the mission of Special Olympics New Jersey, which serves more than 22,000 athletes and Unified Partners across the state.
The organization offers year-round sports training, competitions, health screenings, and leadership opportunities—all at no cost to the athletes—thanks to fundraising efforts like the Torch Run.
