Atlantic County Drunk Driver Pleads Guilty to Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run in Absecon

Atlantic County official said Matthew Cademartori, 25, of Northfield, pled guilty on Friday to one count of Vehicular Homicide in connection with the 2021 hit-and-run death of a pedestrian in Absecon.

Camp It happened on January 8, 2022, at approximately 1:57 a.m.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said Cademartori operated a Ford F150 pickup which was traveling east on the White Horse Pike in Absecon, when he struck Mr. Talmadge Franklin, 67, of Absecon.

According to Atlantic County officials, Cademartori fled the scene and did not report the accident to law enforcement.

Several hours later, officials say Franklin died of injuries sustained in the accident.

An investigation revealed that minutes before the fatal accident, Cademartori left the Hi-Point Pub in Absecon, where he consumed several alcoholic beverages.

Ice cream This case was investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office – Crimes Investigation Unit and the Absecon Police Department.

Officials said Cademartori will be sentenced on June 19, 2023.

He faces seven (7) years in prison with an 85% period of parole ineligibility, pursuant to a negotiated plea agreement.
