Atlantic City Man Pleads Guilty to Unlawful Possession of a Handgun

Authorities in Atlantic County reported that on Wednesday, August 16, Nasir Morgan, 19, of Atlantic City, pleaded guilty in Atlantic County Superior Court to second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, in exchange for a five-year term in New Jersey State Prison, with 42 months of parole ineligibility.

According to officials, on February 15, 2023, Atlantic City police observed Morgan to be in possession of a handgun.

Morgan attempted to conceal himself from law enforcement behind a trash dumpster, officials say.

Authorities say as officers approached, Morgan revealed himself.

Police searched the area Morgan was hiding and located the handgun, which Morgan was observed with earlier.

The handgun had an illegal 16-round ammunition magazine loaded with 16 rounds of ammunition, officials say, there was also one round of ammunition loaded in the chamber of the handgun.

Officials said the handgun had a laser sight that projected red and green beams.

Morgan did not lawfully own the handgun, nor did he have a permit to carry it, according to officials. Morgan was also found to be in possession of approximately 70 wax folds of heroin laced with fentanyl and $408.00 cash.
