Jamaul Timberlake, 31, of Atlantic City, is one of three men accused of assaulting Irving Mayren-Guzman in Pleasantville outside Centerfolds Cabaret on Delilah Road on January 23, 2022, entered a guilty plea yesterday, January 4, in Superior Court to third-degree Aggravated Assault reported by Pleasantville authorities.

According to officials, Mayren-Guzman, 19, was assaulted by three men after being escorted out of the club by bouncers.

Authorities say that Timberlake, along with brothers Garnell and John Hands, is shown on video assaulting the teen after an altercation outside the strip club.

Police said Timberlake admitted under oath yesterday that he and his two codefendants outnumbered Mayren-Guzman and recklessly caused significant bodily injury to him.

After the entry of his guilty plea, Timberlake asked to be released. The Court noted that while it appreciates his taking responsibility for his actions, authorities said he remained a danger to the community and will continue to be held without bail pending sentence.

Mayren-Guzman was reported missing on January 23, 2022, after last being seen at Centerfolds Cabaret, according to officials.

His body was located on January 25, 2022, in the marsh area near the club by a volunteer from a search party.

Authorities say the cause of Mayren-Guzman’s death was determined to result from hypothermia, drowning, and alcohol intoxication.

For the charge of Aggravated Assault, Timberlake is set to receive four years in New Jersey State Prison when he is sentenced on February 22, 2023, officials said.

His plea and sentence are contingent on Garnell Hands and John Hands entering into guilty pleas later this month.

The case was investigated by the Pleasantville Police Department and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
