Atlantic City Man Fatally Shot on Route 40 Overpass

Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a 43-year-old Atlantic City man late Sunday night.

According to information released by the Atlantic City Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 11:20 p.m. on July 6. 

A motorist reported seeing a man lying unresponsive on the Route 40 overpass near 1400 North Albany Avenue, close to Atlantic City High School.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Vaughn Lyons, a city resident, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy conducted by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds, ruling the death a homicide.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit are actively investigating the incident. 

Authorities have not yet released any information about potential suspects or a motive.
