Atlantic City Man Convicted of Possessing Weapon

MAYS LANDING – After a three day trial a 43 year-old Atlantic City man was convicted by an Atlantic County jury on a first degree weapons charge, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.

Officials say, Terri Bailey was convicted on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 of first degree Unlawful Possession of a Handgun by a Certain Person previously convicted of an offense under the No Early Release Act.

According to police March 29, 2018, Atlantic City police officers responded to ShotSpotter in the area of the 600 block of North Martin Luther King Boulevard and received information as to possible suspects.

Officers observed a male matching the description, who was with two other males, one of which being the defendant, Bailey.

In the course of the investigation, Bailey took off running, and in the process discarded a handgun, observed by officers. Bailey ran into School House Apartments and was later arrested by officers of the Atlantic City Police Department on April 5, 2018.

Assistant Prosecutor Deirdre Laws represents the state with the assistance of Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Trial Detectives.

The investigation was led by the Atlantic City Police Department.

Bailey is in custody at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 16th.
