Authorities believe arson is the motive behind a fire that ignited a vehicle in Newark's North Ward Sunday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, police and firefighter responded to reports of a fire near Chester Avenue and Broadway around 12:45 a.m.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found a fully involved fire engulfing a 2015 Chevy Silverado pick up at that location.
Firefighters were able to knock the blaze down without it extending to buildings in the area.
A search of the vehicle indicated not trapped or injured occupants, according to police. The suspect fled the scene and is at-large.
