Armed Suspects Robbed Two Maplewood Residents

Maplewood

Police in Maplewood are looking for two suspects wanted for a robbery in the Township Thursday.

According to police, at approximately 9:18 p.m., the Maplewood Police received a 911 call reporting a robbery that occurred on the corner of Burr Road at Parker Avenue.

Maplewood Police Chief Jimmy DeVaul said two 18-year-old female residents walking in the area reported that they were approached by two unknown black males who demanded the victim’s hand over their phones.

Chief DeVaul said one of the males displayed a black handgun, possibly a revolver during the incident.

A struggle then ensued where one female victim was forced to the ground and had her phone taken.

According to Chief DeVaul, the suspects then ran on Burr Road, where they entered an awaiting black 4-door vehicle that was last seen heading Northbound on Burr Road towards South Orange.

Police said the first suspect is described as a black male between 19-20 years old, skinny, short cut hair and a black covid mask.

Chief DeVaul said the other male is described as a short black male with a medium build wearing a black covid mask with a possible zip-up jacket.

The victim refused medical attention, with one sustaining minor abrasion to her right elbow. Detectives responded to the scene to investigate.
