Armed Suspect Pistol Whips Victim at Gas Station in Newark's South Ward

A man suffered non-life threatening injuries during a robbery incident at a gas station in Newark's South Ward Wednesday morning. 

It happened just before 2 a.m. at 1 Elizabeth Avenue. 

Police arrived at the scene and found the victim suffering a facial injury after a suspect approached armed with a gun and demanded cash. 

When the victim refused to give money, the unidentified assailant attacked and began beating the victim in the face with the gun. 

Police say the victim was not shot. 

The suspect fled the scene and remained at large.
