Armed Robbery Results in Shots Fired in Newark's West Ward

Newark

Police in Newark Police are searching for suspects wanted for an aggravated assault armed robbery near the East Orange border on Sunday morning.

In the second robbery in the immediate area in under two days, police again responded to a dark street behind Jack's Bar on 14th Street and Hedden Place to investigate reports of shots fired around 1:50 a.m.

Police arrived and found multiple shell casings and a person suffering injuries at that location.

A preliminary investigation indicated that suspects occupying a dark-colored vehicle approached the victim and then announced a robbery.

The suspects opened fire on the victim during the incident before speeding away from the scene.

Newark crime scene detectives canvassed the area for evidence and possible surveillance video.

On Friday, armed suspects targeted a law enforcement officer sitting in his vehicle at the intersection and robbed him of his wallet during the violent encounter.

Police reported no arrests in either incident.
