Armed Robbery Reported at Newark South Ward Gas Station

Police in Newark are investigating an early morning armed robbery that occurred at a gas station in the city's South Ward.

Officials said shortly before 3 a.m., police responded to reports of an armed robbery in progress at the Gulf Station in the 200 block of Elizabeth Avenue.

Units arrived at the scene and were informed that four (4) black males arrived at the establishment and conducted the robbery.

Officials say it is unknown how much the suspects took when one of the men brandished a rifle and demanded cash shortly before speeding away in a silver vehicle with tinted windows.

There were no reports of physical injuries.
