Police in Newark are investigating reports of an armed robbery of a utilities worker that happened in the city's South Ward shortly before noon today's.
Cops responded to the area of Hillside Ave. and West Alpine Street at around noon on reports of an armed robbery in progress when they arrived to find an electrical utilities worker reporting that he was robbed at gunpoint by a black male at that location.
The victim reported that the suspect approached armed with a handgun and demanded personal possessions.
The suspect made off with a cell phone and about $50 dollars in cash before fleeing the scene.
There were no injuries reported.
