Armed Robbery at Hotel on Route 46 in Fairfield Under Investigation

Police in Fairfield Township at actively investigating an armed robbery that took place at the Comfort Inn located at 286 Route 46 East on Monday evening. 

According to police, at approximately 6:00 p.m., an unknown white male who wore a surgical mask entered the hotel and approached the front desk clerk.

Police said the suspect showed the clerk a silver-colored handgun in his waistband and told the employee that he needed their money because of Covid.

After being given cash, the suspect calmly exited the hotel and entered what is believed to be a newer model silver or gray Ford Fusion with silver rims, tinted windows, dual exhaust pipes and a sunroof.

Police say the vehicle then fled eastbound on Route 46.
