Police are on the search for suspects wanted for an armed robbery of a gas station that had an attendant assaulted overnight in Newark.
Reports of an armed robbery in progress sent police to the Luke Oil Gas Station located in the 1000 block of McCarter Highway at around 3 a.m.
Units arriving at the scene were met by an injured attendant who reported that shortly before officers arrived; two black male suspects entered the establishment armed with a gun and demanded cash.
While attempting to hand over proceeds, one of the suspects began to attack and strike the attendant with a weapon according to reports.
The suspects fled the scene in a dark colored box style vehicle; possibly a Jeep Cherokee reports said.
There were non-life threatening injuries reported for the attendant.
The robbery is under investigation by Newark Police.
