Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect who robbed a person on a street in the city’s West Ward earlier this afternoon.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of Tremont Avenue at North Munn after they received reports of an armed robbery that occurred at around 2:20 p.m.
Upon their arrival, officers were met by the victim who reported to them that a male suspect approached armed with a gun and demanded personal possessions.
The suspect was described as a heavy-set black male with dreads and red/white//green sweats according to reports.
The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction without causing physical injuries to the victim.
The incident remains under investigation.
