Armed Carjacking Under Investigation in Toms River

There is an active investigation underway into an armed carjacking that occurred in a section of Toms River on Tuesday night. 

According to a preliminary investigation, police were notified of a carjacking in progress in the area of Weston Drive and Ashton Road around 10:15 p.m. 

Police arrived and were told that a male confronted the victim with a knife and took a 2003 Hoda Civic. 

Police say the suspect is described as a black male who wore a grey hoodie accompanied by a black female who wore a hoodie. 

Police found the vehicle several miles away on Whitesville Road in Lakewood. 

There were no injuries reported.
