Police in Newark are investigating an armed carjacking in the city's South Ward today.
Gunmen targeted the driver of a black Mercedes 560 in the 200 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue around 1:20 p.m.
The suspects brandished a gun and demanded the vehicle before speeding away from the scene.
Police believe that the assailants were accompanied by suspects occupying a BMW X5. This car is wanted for multiple burglaries in Morris County.
Officers on active patrol in Irvington Township located the unoccupied Mercedes near 278 Orange Avenue.
The suspects fled the scene and remain at large.
