Police in Newark are investigating an armed carjacking that occurred in Newark's North Ward Friday morning.
According to the investigation, three armed suspects took a white Corvette at gunpoint near the intersection of 3rd Avenue and McCarter Highway just before 1 a.m.
The suspects fled in a northerly direction on McCarter Highway.
Police are actively searching for a blue BMW X5 believed to be involved in the carjacking.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in their investigation.
