Authorities in Newark are investigating an armed carjacking that happened in the city's West Ward overnight.
Reports of a carjacking in progress sent police to the area of Sanford Avenue and 18th Avenue shortly after 9 p.m. where officers located the victim who reported to them that two suspects approached armed with a gun after he exited his vehicle believing that he struck something in the street.
The suspects sped off in the vehicle that's being reported as a white 2009 Mercedes wagon with a reported NJ license plate number "W21-GCU"
There were no physical injuries reported.
