The Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) has been established to provide temporary emergency assistance to low- and moderate-income households that the pandemic and other circumstances have directly or indirectly impacted.
This program has been designed to assist Essex County residents struggling to pay their rent and utility bills due to financial hardship.
Officials said to qualify for the program, applicants must meet certain eligibility criteria, including having an income at or below 80% of the federal poverty level and meeting COVID-19 eligibility guidelines.
Applicants must also provide proof of residence, valid IDs with current addresses, bills for gas and electricity, and payment history for rent and utilities.
Assistance will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis, and applications will be accepted until funds are fully distributed.
It is important to note that not all municipalities in Essex County are eligible for the program, so applicants are advised to check with their local government agencies to confirm eligibility.
