The death of an unidentified person due to an apparent overdose had police remove a child from the victim's presence at a location in Paterson overnight.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of Van Houten and Mill streets after they received reports of an unconscious person suffering a medical condition.
Units arrived at the scene requested EMS on a rush after finding the victim unresponsive at that location.
Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene according to reports.
A young child was found near the victim then removed to a safe location by authorities. The child did not suffer any physical injuries according to reports.
The incident remains under investigation.
