North Jersey residents are waking up to mild temperatures and comfortable breezes on Tuesday morning, but forecasters say this will be the last day of the recent stretch of summer-like weather before rain returns to the region.

As of early morning, it was 67 degrees along Mayor Kenneth Gibson Boulevard and Market Street in Newark, with light winds and a pleasant feel to start the day.
According to the National Weather Service, skies will gradually become cloudy, but conditions will stay warm and dry through the afternoon.
Today’s high is expected to reach near 84 degrees, with a light south wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph and gusts up to 21 mph.
Showers are likely to develop later tonight, with possible thunderstorms after 4 a.m. Temperatures will fall to around 62 degrees overnight.

Forecasters say Wednesday will bring cooler temperatures, marking the end of this brief late-season warm spell.
