Newark

We’re waking up to yet another below-freezing start across the Newark and North Jersey region this Thursday  and it truly feels like the cold weather has been on repeat.

Good morning, New Jersey.

If you’re stepping out the door around 4:30 a.m., be prepared for a sharp chill.

Temperatures are sitting at 27 degrees, but gusty winds are making it feel more like 18 degrees. If you’re heading to the bus stop, walking the dog, or making that early commute, you’ll want all the winter gear — hat, gloves, scarf, the works.

While we are expected to climb above the freezing mark later today, it won’t be by much.

Old Man Winter continues to hold his ground across Newark and surrounding communities.

According to the National Weather Service:

Thursday:

Mostly sunny, with a high near 36 degrees. Wind chill values will range between 15 and 25 degrees. Northwest winds 11 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Tonight:

Partly cloudy, with a low around 20 degrees. Wind chills between 10 and 15. Northwest winds 9 to 14 mph, gusting up to 25 mph.

It’s cold, it’s breezy, but the sunshine will at least give us a little visual warmth today.

Stay safe, stay bundled up — and have a great day, NJ.
