Alleged Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested in Newark

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that his Fugitive Apprehension Team has arrested **Alshamir T. Sampson, 20, of Newark,** wanted in connection with a robbery that occurred on Saturday, May 6.

According to Director Ambrose, at approximately 4:45 p.m., police responded to Clinton Avenue and Parkhurst Street for reports of an armed robbery in progress.

A suspect approached the male victim armed with a gun and robbed him of his cash and personal items Director Ambrose said.

Detectives developed evidence that Alshamir T. Sampson is a suspect in this robbery as they issued a warrant for his arrest.

Police took Sampson into custody Monday at a location in Newark without incident according to Director Ambrose.

Authorities are charging Sampson with Robbery and Conspiracy.

These charges lodged against Mr. Sampson are merely accusations.

Mr. Sampson is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
