ALERT: Women Wanted for Newark Carjacking Spree Caught on Mall Camera Using Stolen Credit Cards

Police in Newark requests the public’s help with identifying two suspects who used a stolen credit card that was taken during a carjacking incident today. 

Officials said Newark Police officers responded to a call about a carjacking in progress at 12:32 a.m. at 100 Chadwick Avenue. The suspect told officers he was sitting in his Silver Nissan Rogue SUV when two women approached the driver’s side of his vehicle.

Police say one of them, who was brandishing a weapon, demanded that he get out. After he exited his vehicle, the suspect with the weapon walked away northbound on Chadwick Avenue while her partner jumped in the vehicle and drove off.   

 The suspect with the weapon is described as 5’5” and 150 pounds. She was wearing a black sweater with black sweat pants and a black medical face mask.

The other suspect, also described as 5’5 and 150 pounds, was wearing a white sweater, grey sweat pants and a medical mask.

Police said both women, who are believed to have been involved in two other carjacking incidents, were captured on surveillance video using a credit card at Livingston Mall. 

While detectives investigating this incident are seeking the public’s help with identifying the suspects, Director Ambrose urges anyone with information about them to call the Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
