A massive water main break is causing significant traffic disruptions along Route 1 northbound in Edison near Plainfield Avenue, creating delays for commuters traveling through the area.

Emergency crews are working to assess and repair the damage, but lanes along the busy corridor have been impacted as water continues to flood sections of the roadway.
The incident has slowed traffic to a crawl during the morning commute and is expected to cause prolonged delays through the morning rush.
The affected area sits along a heavily traveled stretch of Route 1 in Edison, a key artery through Middlesex County, compounding congestion as drivers attempt to pass through or divert around the scene.

Commuters are strongly urged to avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes while repair work continues.
Motorists traveling for the first time since the overnight damage are advised to allow extra travel time and stay alert for emergency vehicles and changing traffic patterns.
Officials have not yet provided an estimated time for full repairs, and delays are expected to remain heavy until the situation is resolved.
