ALERT: Warrants Issued for Irvington, Newark Men for Separate Burglaries

Irvington Township Newark

Warrants have been issued for an Irvington man and a Newark man in separate incidents of burglary.

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Mr. Khalil Gilliam, 25, of Irvington, and Mr. Aljuwan Shakur, 53, of Newark, in separate incidents of burglary.

According to police, a woman reported that her home, in the 200 block of Dayton Street, was burglarized between the dates of May 27-29. A suspect entered the residence and stole cash and jewelry.

Detectives investigating this incident developed sufficient evidence to identify Gilliam as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest on charges of burglary and theft, reports say.

Officials say that in a separate incident, a man returned to his home in the 300 block of Ridgewood Avenue on May 27 to discover that someone had burglarized it with cash and electronics stolen.

Detectives identified Shakur as a suspect and secured a warrant for his arrest on charges of burglary and theft, police say.

While police are actively searching for Gilliam and Shakur, we seek the public’s help in quickly locating each of them so that they can be removed from our streets.
