ALERT: Suspect Sought for 2017 Newark Murder

Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Director of Public Safety Anthony F. Ambrose are appealing to the public for help in solving the murder of Mr. Eric Jones, 25, of Newark, who was killed two years ago.

Police say on Tuesday Oct. 17, 2017 at approximately 7:13 p.m. Newark Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Irvine Turner Boulevard on a report of a person shot or a shooting in progress.

When the officers arrived, they discovered Jones suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Jones was subsequently transported by ambulance to University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

On the date of the homicide, a male wearing a mask and hoodie was observed at 301 Irvine Turner Boulevard.
