ALERT: Search Underway for Missing Homeless Newark Man

Police in Newark requests the public’s help locating Mr. Sabir Jones, 37, a homeless man from Newark city who was reported missing on March 3, 2021.

 

According to police, Jones, diagnosed with depression and psychosis, was last seen around 7 p.m. on February 26, 2021 at 16th Avenue and South 10th Street.  

Police say he is known to sleep at Newark Penn Station and panhandle on McCarter Highway,

Jones is described as 5’9” and 190 pounds with brown eyes, black hair and a medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a red, white and blue Tommy Hilfiger jacket, light blue jeans, a black hat, Nike footwear and a navy pull over sweatshirt with a hood.

 

While detectives are actively searching for Jones, we seek the public’s help in quickly locating him and returning him to his family.

 

Director Ambrose urges anyone with information about Jones to call the Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
