ALERT: NJ Residents, Have You Seen Mr. De Leon Mejia

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is continuing to seek the public's help in locating a suspect wanted for a violent and murderous 2019n shooting in Passaic County.

According to the FBI, Mr. Diego Alfonso De Leon Mejia is wanted for his alleged involvement in the murder of another man at a gas station in Paterson on May 16, 2019.

The FBI said De Leon Mejia approached the victim, produced a weapon, then shot and killed the victim for an unspecified reason. 

On May 31, 2019, Passaic County authorities charged De Leon Mejia with murder and possessing a weapon for unlawful purposes. A state warrant was issued for his arrest.

According to the FBI, the United States District Court, District of New Jersey, issued a federal arrest warrant on March 18, 2021, after De Leon Mejia was charged federally with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

De Leon Mejia, 23, is Hispanic with brown skin, is 5'6" tall and weighs around 155 pounds. FBI Officials said he has black hair, brown eyes and is considered armed and dangerous.
