ALERT: Newark Police Seek the Public's Help in Identifying Robbery Suspect

Police in Newark requests the public’s help in identifying a male suspect in connection with a robbery that occurred on Monday, March 14.

According to authorities, at approximately 1:20 p.m., police responded to Dollar General, at 131 Market Street, on a call of a robbery.

Officials say a woman was shopping when a male snatched her purse, knocking the victim to the floor.

The suspect fled the store, heading west on Market Street and South on Washington Street, say officials.

Authorities say detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help in quickly identifying this suspect as part of their investigation.

Officials say he is described as a 5’8” tall Black male, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray, white and red pants, and a purple skull cap.

Director O’Hara urges anyone with information on the identity of this suspect to call the Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).

All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
