ALERT: Newark Man Wanted for Armed Robbery After Luring Victim to Apartment Using a Dating App

Newark Police are reporting that an arrest warrant has been issued for Mr: Tajier Hodges-Owens, 18, of Newark, who robbed a man at gunpoint after luring him to an apartment using a dating app on August 11.

According to police officials, officers responded to a call about a robbery that took place around 5 a.m. in an apartment on 19th Avenue. 

Police said that the victim told officers that he went to the apartment to meet a woman that he met on a dating app.

Unbeknownst to the victim, Hodges-Owens used the dating app to lure him to the address, which is where the suspect resides.

According to police, when the victim arrived, Tajier Hodges-Owens emerged from behind the door brandishing a weapon. 

Police said that another man was with Hodges-Owens, who robbed the victim of his cellphone and watch.

According to police officials, Hodges is described as 5’-11’’ and between 120 and 130 pounds. He has black eyes, black hair, and a dark brown complexion.

While detectives investigate this incident they seek the public’s help with locating Hodges-Owens
