NJ State Police are on the scene investigating a crash involving several vehicles on a highway in Essex County.
The three-car collision happened around 5:40 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway near exit 144 in Newark.
State Transportation officials said the collision blocked three lanes resulting in a 40-minute delay from the I-78 exit to the GSP.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and found the damaged cars with injured occupants out of the vehicles.
None of the injuries were immediately reported as severe.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
