ALERT: Man Wanted for Armed Carjacking in Newark

Police in Newark requests the public’s help in identifying the below pictured male suspect in an armed carjacking attempt that occurred today.

Police say shortly after 3:10 p.m., a male and female attempted to carjack a man in the 200 block of South 19th Street.

According to police, the male suspect arrived at the scene with a female suspect in a black 4-door Pontiac Grand Prix.

They demanded the victim’s vehicle, but could not start it. The victim’s vehicle was not taken in this incident.

Both suspects fled north on South 19th Street, heading towards Central Avenue, in the Pontiac.

Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help in quickly identifying the suspects.

The suspect was captured on surveillance cameras. He is described as a black male 5'8"-5'9" tall and 140 lbs.

He was wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt and black wave cap. The suspect was also armed with a black handgun.

The female suspect is described as short, heavy set, wearing white t-shirt and gray and black jeans with rip design.

All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
