ALERT: Forecasters Warn of Possible Tornadoes in Northern NJ

New Jersey

Forecasters have issued a weather alert for possible tornadoes that may form in parts of Northern NJ until 9:30 p.m.

Officials say although a tornado is not immediately likely, if one is spotted, act quickly and move to a place of safety inside a low level, a sturdy structure such as a basement.

“For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building,” according to The National Weather Service.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are affecting much of Northern NJ at this time so take and remain in the shelter.

If you are out, expect flooded roads and some neighborhoods.
