ALERT: Expected Icy Precipitation to Hamper Travel in Newark for Tuesday, Wednesday's Commute

Newark

Newark officials and weather forecasters are reporting that due to expected snow and rain, many streets should be avoided because they may become slick and flood on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Officials say snow is expected before 11 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a mixture of snow and rain into the afternoon with accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

After 9 p.m., snow is predicted with high winds and expected accumulations of approximately one inch according to officials.

Officials say on Wednesday, snow showers with high winds are expected to begin at noon and continue to 4 p.m. Frigid temperatures are expected on Wednesday night.

"Because motorists can become stranded by driving through flooded streets and high water, drivers are asked to avoid these locations and to use alternative routes. Drivers are also discouraged from traveling through any streets that are flooded, have high water or are believed to be flooded" according to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose.
