An alert has been issued to residents in the region for residents in the region to observe their surroundings after a string of armed robberies has law enforcement officers searching for suspects.
According to preliminary reports, the latest in the series of robberies, suspects armed with a weapon, approached an elderly male in the area of North 8th Street at Davenport Avenue before 7:25 and robbed the victim before physically assaulting the man.
Authorities described the suspects as two black males who wore dark clothing hoodies fled the scene on foot after the robbery.
Suspects fitting the same description reportedly committed several other robberies of gas stations, including one located in the 300 block of Washington Street, shortly before midnight.
There were no serious injuries reported in any of the incidents.
Police are continuing to investigate.
