ALERT: Double Gas Station Armed Robberies Reported in Newark's West Ward

Police in Newark are on the search for suspects who are wanted for armed robberies of at least two gas stations that occurred this morning in the city's West Ward.

Reports of an armed robbery in progress at the Citgo Gas Station located at the intersection of Sanford Avenue and Mt. Vernon Place had cops on the scene at around 4:45 a.m.

Units arrived to the scene where they met employees who told them that two to three black males arrived in an older model Jeep Cherokee and armed with a gun and demanded cash.

Employees handed over an unknown amount of money before the suspects sped away from the scene.

The men also held up Shell Gas Station on South Orange Avenue and Stuyvesant minutes later.

The vehicle is reported to have one white door.

There were no physical injuries reported.

UPDATE 7:05 a.m. Suspects fitting the same description just robbed a person in the 700 block of Sanford Avenue. Older model Jeep.
