ALERT: Carjacker Steals Car with Child Inside in Newark’s East Ward UPDATE: Car and Child Found

The Newark Police Department is urgently searching for a carjacking suspect who, in a shocking incident, stole a vehicle with a child inside. Ad The incident occurred earlier this morning, near 149 Wilson Avenue, just minutes before 8:30 a.m.

The child, about three years old, is wearing a red hoodie and grey pants. His name is Pedro Dasilva. 

The stolen vehicle is described as a gray 2017 Hyundai Elantra, bearing noticeable damage on the front passenger side.

The car is registered with a New Jersey license plate bearing the number NJ S27-SLD. The last known location of the vehicle was reported to be north of Kormore Street.

Police believe that the suspect is described as a Black male. He was last seen wearing a black North Face jacket, black jeans, a white hat adorned with the American flag, and black gloves.  

At this point in the investigation, it remains unclear whether the suspect employed a weapon during the carjacking.

The Newark Police Department, along with local law enforcement agencies, is working to locate the stolen vehicle and ensure the safe return of the abducted infant.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of the carjacked vehicle to come forward immediately.

UPDATE 9:55 a.m.: The child was reportedly left in a running and unattended vehicle. The vehicle has not been located yet. 

UPDATE 10:41 a.m.: 76 Liberty Avenue Jersey City, NJ car and baby has been found.
