Police in Hillside were notified this morning after a bear was spotted wandering through a residential neighborhood.
The bear was seen on McLean Place moving through backyards and rummaging through garbage.
One resident reported seeing the animal near his vehicle in a driveway.
State animal control officials have been notified.
Residents are urged to use caution, avoid approaching the bear, and secure garbage cans until the animal is safely removed from the area.
