New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability (OPIA) has made public audio and video recordings tied to a fatal October 18, crash in Holland Township, Hunterdon County, that followed an attempted police stop.

According to information released by OPIA, the decedent has been identified as Scott Segreaves, Jr., 20, of Zuni, Virginia.

His death remains under active investigation by state officials.

The Attorney General’s Office noted that the release of 9-1-1 audio, police radio transmissions, and video footage is part of a transparency policy established in 2019 requiring public disclosure of materials connected to deaths involving law enforcement encounters.

Segreaves’ family members were given the chance to review the recordings before they were made public.

Preliminary findings indicate that around 10:24 p.m., Segreaves was driving on Water Street in Milford Borough when New Jersey State Police Staff Sergeant Nicholas Pryszlak attempted to catch up to his vehicle for a speeding violation.

Surveillance video later showed both vehicles traveling on Frenchtown Road before turning onto Stamets Road. At that point, Sergeant Pryszlak activated his lights and sirens.

Segreaves did not stop and continued driving. Roughly 45 seconds later, after losing sight of the vehicle, Sgt. Pryszlak shut off his emergency lights and sirens.

While continuing on Stamets Road, he stopped to ask another driver if a car had recently passed; when the driver confirmed, he proceeded onto Gallmeier Road.

At about 10:28 p.m., the Holland Township Police Department received an automated crash alert from an iPhone, reporting a severe accident.

Using GPS coordinates from the message, officers searched the area and discovered Segreaves’ overturned vehicle around 10:58 p.m., off the road and down an embankment near Stamets Road and Gallmeier Road.

Segreaves was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Attorney General’s Office emphasized that the investigation is ongoing.
