After Year-Long Battle Newark Woman Succums to Injuries: Death Ruled a Homicide

A woman who was shot last year on North Munn Avenue succumbed  to her injuries today, according to officials.
                                                      
Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray said that 36-year-old Amera Bell was pronounced dead Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. at St. Michael's Hospital in Newark. 
Bell who remained hospitalized since she was shot multiple times on North Munn Avenue last year in April.

Her death has been ruled a homicide.

Kanem Williamson, 19, of Newark, was arrested on aggravated assault and weapons charges following the shooting, and is currently being held at the Essex County Jail on $175,000 bond.

Charges against Williamson are being reviewed to determine whether current charges will be upgraded.
